6.2 Infectious Substances Supplemental- Temperature Control Track

This track provides practical instruction on maintaining temperature control when shipping Division 6.2 infectious substances by air.

Learners explore four commonly used cooling methods, including wet ice and cold packs (non-dangerous goods), as well as the use of Dry ice (UN1845) and Nitrogen, refrigerated liquid (UN1977) as refrigerants. The module explains how these cooling agents integrate with infectious substance packaging systems.

Additional dangerous goods requirements applicable when using dry ice or refrigerated nitrogen are addressed, including marking, labeling, documentation, and air transport considerations under dangerous goods transport regulations. A final assessment confirms competency. Upon successful completion, certification is issued immediately.
